Source : Hypebeast

Although conceptually driven footwear has hit a low point over the last year, the New Balance A14 576 exemplifies the solid workings of what concepts can do for a sneaker. The 576 references an unlikely source of inspiration in coffee beans to create the colorway. The upper is comprised of hemp and cork with a printed insole and painted ‘N’ logo. Slated for a release in August of 2008.

Cops Confiscate Tons Of Coke In Peru, PR, Venezuela

As of lately alot of attention has been paid to the increased production of heroin in Afghanistan (post Taliban), the world’s leading supplier of dope but with these recent busts in South America it is clear that coke output isn’t slowing up anytime soon. Authorities in Peru seized 1.5 tons of cocaine (peruvian raw?) from a small international cartel who were reportedly “armed for war” at the time of their apprehension.

They were in possession of $11,000, jewelry, two motorcycles, two vehicles, telephones, radios and equipment to package the work. No details on the weapons was made available. In the middle of the month (3/15) Venezuelan police discoverd 2.9 metric tons (3.2 tons) of coke in a shed. They were in pursuit of one suspect at presstime.

A few days prior, in Puerto Rico US authorities (US Coast Guard) seized 456 kilos (1,005 lbs) of coke packed in 17 suitcases on a boat off the eastern shore of the island. In the Carribean territories alone, authorities have claimed to have seized upwards to 1,600 kilos (3,527 lbs) of coke estimated at $54.5million since October of 2007. With this amount just getting caught in the strainer imagine how much yayo must be on the streets undetected?

Did you hear about the CIA plane that crashed with 3 tons of coke on it…coming from Colombia?

Mayweather Kicks Big Shows Ass (Pics)

Source: WWE

Wrestlemania proved this Sunday “to be the greatest show on earth”. With a jam packed four hour program that featured the likes of Snoop Dogg, John Legend, Raven Symone and many others the WWE broke attendance records and pay-per -view viewers.

With all the bells and whistles Vince could of possibly imagined, the main event was Floyd Mayweather vs. The Big Show.

ORLANDO, Fla. – At WrestleMania XXIV, Floyd Mayweather put his “money” where his mouth was, running his professional record to 40-0 with a shocking knockout of the 7-foot, 441-pound Big Show.

While he may not have come through on his promise to break the mammoth’s jaw, he did, in fact, shock the Citrus Bowl-record crowd of 74,635 WWE fans and millions more watching around the world on pay-per-view by felling Big Show like a giant redwood. The victory, however, didn’t come without a bit of chicanery

Cell Phones=Brain Cancer?

With the explosion of cell phones in the last decade, this new report linking cell phones to brain cancers and tumors can’t be welcoming news to customers. Researchers are going to the extreme and claiming the threat of cell phones use is more severe than smoking and asbestos because it’s over 3 billion people who are subjecting themselves to harmful levels of radiation, the ramifications of which will be unknown for roughly a decade. So they are estimating that the dilemma will be so wide spread that it will dwarf the horrendous number of people who succumb to smoke related cancer and asbestos exposure. (In other words EVERYONE is subject). Preliminary tests have shown the end results will point towards an alarming rise of deadly brain tumors, especially in children.

The study, by Dr Vini Khurana, is the most devastating indictment yet published of the health risks.

It draws on growing evidence – exclusively reported in the IoS in October – that using handsets for 10 years or more can double the risk of brain cancer. Cancers take at least a decade to develop, invalidating official safety assurances based on earlier studies which included few, if any, people who had used the phones for that long. Earlier this year, the French government warned against the use of mobile phones, especially by children. Germany also advises its people to minimise handset use, and the European Environment Agency has called for exposures to be reduced.

Social Networking Is The Wave Of The Future…Take Note

Reuters ran a thorough expose on the social networking phenom, citing the inclusion of superstars like 50 Cent who have created their own networks via Ning. Even though artists maintain healthy followings via Myspace and Facebook, they don’t have access to the most vital aspect of their following, the fans email. With sensitive data like email and demographics, a social networking site can then be monetized by commercializing access to advertisers.

Identified as “next-generation” fan and web sites, social networks are becoming hubs where artists can not only have an intimate connection with their fanbase but they can also directly market to them, effectively excluding the middleman. Now portals such as Facebook and Myspace are looked at as “funnels” which help strengthen the membership on personalized social networks, like the Ning supported Thisis50.
Gina Bianchini, CEO of Ning summed it up best when she said, “They take and use services where they don’t know the users, don’t have access and don’t have full control, and funnel those fans to something they do control.”

Ludacris, the Pussycat Dolls and Ice Cube are cited as artist that have jumped on the bandwagon early and cemented their spots in the blossoming social network field. Ice Cube’s venture, UVNTV is a slightly different service, that allows its members to host their own TV channel. That service, which includes Snoop and Cube amongst its content providers, will be up and running by January 2009.
